The Batman Casting News Could Reveal Major Jim Gordon Spoiler

We already know that Jeffrey Wright will be playing Commissioner Jim Gordon in The Batman. However, new casting news about the Warner Bros. film might prove to be spoilers about the role that Gordon will play in the upcoming Robert Pattinson movie.

A quick look at the film's IMDbPro page reveals that Chernobyl star Alex Ferns will portray a character named Commissioner Pete Savage (via Comicbook.com). We don't know much about the character just yet but his title suggests that Gordon hasn't been promoted as Gotham City's police commissioner.

It would be interesting to see Gordon as someone who has fewer responsibilities. Some are already speculating that the film could be similar to what happened in the series Gotham where Gordon works closely with the young Bruce Wayne. However, this has not yet been confirmed so it's best to take it with a grain of salt.

But what else could this mean? There are speculations that we'll be seeing Bruce Wayne in his early years before he becomes an established crimefighter. This seems in line with the fact that Matt Reeves chose a younger actor to play Bruce. Needless to say, fans could once again see more of Bruce's backstory before he became the Caped Crusader.

The Batman will also star Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Colin Farrell as Penguin, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and John Turturro as Carmine Falcone. Peter Sarsgaard has also joined the cast and is believed to be playing Harvey Dent. The film will premiere on June 25, 2021.
