The Batman Arkham Asylum Spinoff Series Finds Its Showrunner

Following the success of The Batman earlier this year, director Matt Reeves revealed that he's been working on more spinoff projects surrounding the film including a series that focuses on the infamous Arkham Asylum. Now, after months of being in development, it looks like the project has found its key creative player.

According to Variety, The Devil All the Time and The Staircase director Antonio Campos has been tapped to serve as the showrunner/executive producer and director of The Batman's Arkham Asylum spinoff series, should his version of the project move forward.

The Arkham Asylum-centric project is among The Batman spinoffs that are currently in the works alongside The Penguin (which will see Colin Farrell's Oswald Cobblepot star in his own series) and the Gotham PD series that is still in development despite the recent exit of its previously-hired writer Joe Barton.

Reeves is also serving as executive producer for the project alongside Daniel Pipski, Adam Kassan, Dylan Clark, and Rafi Crohn. While the potential series doesn't have an official logline yet, Reeves previously described it as "a horror movie or a haunted house that is Arkham."

This news is certainly an exciting update for the development of the project since it is a sign that they are moving forward with making the series and it is curious to see what kind of direction they have in store for this spinoff.

Campos is also a talented director and writer as proven by his previous works and we can say at the very least that this project is in good hands. However, it has not received a series order yet so it might take a while before we see this come to fruition.
