The Avengers: Infinity War Creative Team Talks About The Complexity Of Thanos

Avengers: Infinity War just rolled out on Blu-Ray today and to celebrate the film's home release, Marvel has decided to roll out a few featurettes featured in the film's Blu-Ray release.

One of the featurettes that's been posted online tries to give fans some deeper insight into the mind of the villain Thanos (Josh Brolin), exploring the complexity of the Mad Titan. While the Marvel Cinematic Universe has achieved a whole lot of success with its many comic book movies, Marvel has struggled in delivering well-rounded villains.

Sure things have changed with Spider-Man: Home coming's Vulture played by Michael Keaton and Black Panther's Killmonger by Michael B. Jordan, but Marvel fans haven't really been able to meet a villain like Thanos until Infinity War.

"Thanos is a very complex character," Brolin explains in the featurette "What he's doing, from his point of view, is a very positive thing."

According to Infinity War producer Louis D'Esposito, Thanos is an eco-terrorist of sorts who wants to get rid of half of the universe to save the other half. To co-director Anthony Russo, however, the Mad Titan is driven by a "complex and empathetic interior life."

"We wanted to tell a story about a character with a really complex and empathetic interior life," Anthony says. "There's not a lot of actors who can give you both of those things. Josh Brolin brings a reality to the character."

Infinity War might be done and gone, but we're all definitely excited to see how the Russo Brothers are going to bring Thanos' story to an end in Avengers 4.

Avengers 4 hits cinemas on May 3, 2019.
