Following Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, Sony rebooted the wall-crawler's character, which then starred Andrew Garfield as lead. Known as one of the hero's greatest foes, the movie also featured Rhys Ifans as the Lizard, but as it turns out, Ifans wasn't the only actor considered to play the villain.

Concept artist Jerad S. Marantz took to Instagram to share an Amazing Spider-Man concept art of Michael Fassbender as the Lizard. He envisioned the character with Fassbender's human features, pointing out that the actor was actually considered for the role at one point. You can check it out below!

Obviously, Fassbender passed on the role and instead, played the character Magneto in X-Men: First Class. Either roles are really good choices but deciding on Magneto eventually paid off, which led to Fassbender starring in Days of Future Past, Apocalypse, and Dark Phoenix as well.

It's unclear how close Fassbender came to landing the role, but it would be interesting to see how that would have played out. There were plans for Doctor Curt Connors to be put on trial in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but Ifans didn't reprise his role for the sequel. The villain was last seen at the Ravencroft Institute. As for Fassbender, Marvel Studio has yet to announce their plans for X-Men, though it's unlikely for the actor to return.
