The Adam Project Star Ryan Reynolds Reveals Why He Doesn't Want To Direct Movies

Ryan Reynolds will star in Netflix's new sci-fi adventure film, The Adam Project. Together with Mark Ruffalo, Zoe Saldana, Walker Scobell, Catherine Keener, and Jeniffer Garner. The Adam Project reunites Reynolds with Free Guy's director Shawn Levy, who previously directed Night at the Museum Trilogy and Real Steel.

Aside from Reynolds' acting career achievements, the actor is now juggling between acting and producing several films. Reynolds has previously produced his comedy adventure film, Free Guy, and both of his iconic superhero films, Deadpool. Now with another excellence as a producer, directing seems like the next big step, but Reynolds shows no interest.

In a recent interview with Collider to promote Netflix's The Adam Project, Reynolds was questioned if directing films ever interest him and the actor responded, "It genuinely doesn't." See Ryan Reynolds' comment below:

"It genuinely doesn’t... Storytelling interests me in every way, shape, and form. Producing interests me in every way, shape, and form. Same with performing. And I get to work with guys like Shawn Levy. I don't know why I would try to think I can do that on my own. That would be idiotic. If I could direct something with Shawn Levy down the road someday, that would be nice. But no, I love the position I'm in. I love that I get to work with folks that I get to work with. I also just really feel like, why would I deprive myself of that amazing collaborator? I just think that's so important in everything that I do. I don't ever pretend to be a person who's just unilaterally deciding this or that. I love the creative process of having someone to bounce something off of. I love the creative process of trial and error, of ripping something apart and rebuilding it again. That's the thing that I'm most interested in, and I love doing that with someone."

While many notable actors have shifted from acting to building their directorial careers, like Ben Affleck, Clint Eastwood, and Angelina Jolie, seems like Ryan Reynolds is happy in what he does best, which is acting. Reynolds has given us iconic roles in his two-decade acting career, especially with his beloved Marvel character role, Deadpool.

As of now, we will see Ryan Reynolds in the upcoming sci-fi adventure, The Adam Project, streaming on Netflix on March 9.
