Fans finally learn of Osha and Mae’s backstory in The Acolyte episode 3, titled Destiny. However, aside from revealing the twin sisters’ childhood and what drove them apart, the episode also showcased the incredible performances of real-life sisters Lauren and Leah Brady as the young Osha and Mae.

Aside from delving deeper into the witch twins' background, episode 3 also featured the Star Wars debut of Jodie Turner-Smith as Mother Aniseya, who looked after the Force-sensitive sisters, and the story how Jedi Master Sol met Osha and Mae for the first time.

And despite their young age, twin actresses Lauren and Leah's portrayals of the young versions of Mae and Osha stood out from the rest.

Lauren played the young Osha in The Acolyte Episode 3. Compared to her twin sister, Mae, Osha didn’t want to become a witch and was torn between her own feelings and what her family wanted her to be.

The role probably put much pressure on Lauren, but she easily nailed it.

Lauren marvellously conveyed Osha's emotions, from her refusal to obey her family’s orders to her desire to become a Jedi.

Things even got intense when Mae blocked her from leaving Brendok, and the unexpected happened.

Lauren showed a stellar performance as Osha witnessed the tragic fate of her sister and saw the lifeless body of her mother figure, Aniseya, leaving her with no choice but to escape with Master Sol to save her life.

Lauren’s other acting credits are the short Wake and the 2022 movie Midnight at the Paradise.

On the other hand of the Force Dyad is Mae, played by Lauren’s sister, Leah Brady.

Though The Acolyte Episode 3 mostly focused on Osha, Mae equally stole the spotlight, thanks to Leah’s acting prowess.

Leah perfectly captured Mae’s eagerness to continue the coven's legacy, which her sister refused to do. This frequently led to a series of fights between the two.

The young actress also showcased Mae’s ruthless ways as a child and her rising anger as Osha didn’t fulfil her promise to fail the Jedi test and ended up joining the Jedi.

Her drastic decision to set Osha’s room on fire revealed how even a child could do the worse for the path she had chosen.

From anger and rage to the love for her sister and the subtle nuances that differentiate Mae from Osha, Leah did everything very well.

Before The Acolyte, Leah was part of The Umbrella Academy, Violent Night, and The Love Club.

Fans may still see glimpses of Leah and Lauren through flashbacks as the show continues.
The twin sisters will continuously showcase their great talents as they play young Mae and Osha.

The Acolyte Episodes 1 to 3 are available on Disney+, while new episodes release every Tuesday.
