Tessa Thompson Reveals How Thor: Love and Thunder Will Be Different from the Rest of the MCU

There's a lot of anticipation right now to Thor: Love and Thunder as it is following up the smashing success of Thor: Ragnarok with Taika Waititi returning to direct and it will also mark the comeback of Natalie Portman's Jane Foster who is set to become the Mighty Thor. Now, it looks like the film will be more different than we thought according to one of its stars.

Speaking with TheWrap, Tessa Thompson, who plays Valkyrie in the MCU, discussed the importance of having representation in the MCU especially with her character being one of the first LGBTQ in the franchise, and shared why Thor: Love and Thunder will be different from the other films.

She said, "It’s totally exciting. We talk so much about representation and obviously, in terms of the LGBTQIA community, there’s still so much work to be done. But if you look at the comics in the canon, there are so many queer characters! It’s hard because Taika and I would’ve even liked to go further, but in the context of the movies, there’s only so much we can do. Unfortunately, there’s not a lot of time invested in love stories in Marvel movies in general. I think that will be a little different on the new Thor, which is exciting. And getting to play a character that historically is not written for somebody that looks like me, all of that felt exciting."

While the MCU has tackled romantic storylines in its films and TV shows including Tony Stark and Pepper Potts, Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter, Wanda Maximoff and Vision, Sersi and Ikaris, and such, it looks like Thor: Love and Thunder will be going full-force in terms of its romantic storyline and will make it as one of the major key plot points which would make sense given that Thor and Jane will be appearing together again in the film. It is also titled "Love and Thunder" which heavily indicates that it would be a mixture of a love story and an action-packed adventure.

It is very interesting to hear that the film is going in that direction and we're definitely curious to see what Taika has in store for the romantic storyline now that they are hyping it up several months leading up to the release.
