Taika Waititi's Fake Thor 4 Script is Once Again Confusing Fans

There's no denying that Robert Downey Jr. had a fruitful stint in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, leaving a lasting legacy in the superhero film genre. However, a lot of fans weren't ready to see him bid the franchise farewell and some have even expressed their desire to see him back as the genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist. But what if we tell you that it could happen?

ComicBook's Marvel-centric podcast Phase 4 stunned fans on Twitter when they posted a screengrab of an alleged script from Thor 4 that was taken from Taika Waititi's Instagram live session. The said script features a scene between Odinson and Tony Stark who is apparently making his "return" to the billion-dollar franchise following his death in Avengers: Endgame.

Now, before some of you get all excited about Iron Man's miraculous and rather suspicious MCU comeback, the said script first made its rounds online in April 2020. While it's true that Taika in fact shared it on his Instagram live, sadly, the "leaked" script is completely fake. Of course, not everyone was aware of the prank he pulled so it's understandable how it caused quite the confusion within the fandom.

The idea of Tony Stark returning to the MCU wouldn't have made sense two years ago but with the franchise diving deep into the bowels of the multiverse, anything seemingly became possible all of a sudden. Of course, it would require Marvel some good persuading to convince Robert Downey Jr. to actually reprise the role but that's not to say Iron Man couldn't be played by a different actor serving as the hero's "variant".

Will we ever see that happen though? That's the real question.

Meanwhile, Thor: Love and Thunder hits cinemas on July 8, 2022.
