Disney has another live-action adaptation of one of its classic animated features, this time for Lady and the Tramp and it looks like Marvel star Tessa Thompson has just been cast as the leading Lady in the film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney has just decided to cast Tessa Thompson as the lead star in the studio's upcoming live-action remake of Lady and Tramp. The actress who played Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok and the controversial Sorry to Bother You character Detroit is now all set to lend her voice to Lady and the Tramp's Lady, a fancy-pants Cocker Spaniel who lives with a refined, upper middle-class family in the suburbs.
Disney made a great choice casting Thompson – not only did the actress do a great job acting in Thor: Ragnarok, her voice also has a refined glow to it, one that would perfectly fit Lady.
Thompson will be playing across The Spy Who Dumped Me and The Girl On The Train star Justin Theroux. Theroux will also be playing the lead, this time the part of Tramp, a street-smart stray that happens to cross paths with Lady.
Other stars cast in the live-action film includes Ashley Jensen who will lend her voice to the Scottish Terrier, Jackie and Doctor Strange actor Benedict Wong who will be voicing the English bulldog, Bull. Kiersey Clemons has also been cast in the film, set to play the part of Darling, Lady's human owner in the film.
Directed by The Lego Ninjago Movie filmmaker Charlie Bean, the live-action Lady and the Tramp is scheduled to launch sometime in 2019.
