Terminator: Dark Fate Featurette Confirms It’s a Direct Sequel to T2

Besides Alita: Battle Angel, James Cameron is also producing Terminator: Dark Fate with Tim Miller in the director's chair. A new trailer has just dropped online, and with it, Paramount has also given us a BTS featurette with Cameron himself talking to us about the movie.

As confirmed by Cameron in the video, Dark Fate will be a direct sequel to Terminator 2, much like Jurassic World was a direct sequel to the first Jurassic Park. If we count, there have actually been three Terminator movies since the second one, but none of them have managed to get picked up and continue the franchise in the box office.

With Cameron back onboard, everyone is expecting this movie to be different from the past two Terminator films. For one, Linda Hamilton is back, and we also have Arnold Schwarzenegger returning as an aged T-800. We shouldn't expect them to take center stage though, as the new lead in the franchise is Mackenzie Davis who looks to be some kind of specialized cyborg. She even goes full nude like Arnie does in the original Terminator film.

We don't have a full synopsis of what the plot of the movie will be yet, but by the looks of it, the robots are now targeting another Sarah Connor-type in the form of Natalia Reyes' character who could be the mother of someone important. At least this time, she'll be getting help not just from Sarah Connor, but from a T-800 plus whatever Davis is.

Catch Terminator: Dark Fate in theaters Nov. 1.
