Being the kings of the ocean in their respective franchises, Namor and Aquaman has always been put up side by side and for Tenoch Huerta in the MCU, he feels honored to be compared to DCU's Jason Momoa, but when it comes to who would win between the two, he says he would.

Since the announcement of his arrival in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the comparisons between Namor and Aquaman heightened, more so, when Namor made his MCU debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which made some alterations on his origins to ensure that the comparisons will be lessened.

Still, it's a common question, especially to the actor who play both roles, and when Tenoch Huerta, playing Namor, was asked by Rolling Stone regarding the comparison, the MCU actor reveals he is quite humbled by the mere fact that people are comparing him to Jason Momoa's Aquaman.

Huerta said, "I'm honored to be compared with that guy. He's a wonderful actor, a fantastic human being. He's a Hollywood movie star and they are comparing me with him. It's like, 'Oh my, God, Mom! Mom! They are talking about me and Jason!' It's fantastic! I love it."

Huerta did his own comparison, too, "For me, it's like, okay, they are two superheroes, they come from the water, and that's it. One is Mayan, Mesoamerican, and the other is Atlantean, from a Greek myth, but it's different cultures, different backgrounds…even different powers, you know? Aquaman can communicate with animals, with whales and everything and Namor can't."

However, when Huerta was asked the burning question on who would win should Namor and Aquaman go face-to-face, of course, he would answer the same thing -- Namor wins, and Huerta just replies, "Yeah," with a chuckle.

Namor and Aquaman are both heroes in their own right within their own franchises and comparisons couldn't really be avoided given their similarities but in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Namor's origins were changed into something more connected to history, possibly to avoid confusion with Aquaman as well.

Possibly being one of the oldest heroes in the Marvel lore, the rights to Namor has always been an issue when it comes to bringing him on screen. See, Namor is tied up with Universal Studios so Marvel Studios had to do some negotiations before bringing Namor into the franchise.

That same issue still stands in the way when people are talking about whether it isa possible to have a solo Namor movie because to date, Universal Pictures still holds the rights to the character but this may change soon because the deal is already nearing its expiration in 2023.
