Ted Lasso Star Jason Sudeikis Rumored to Appear in Blue Beetle

One of the upcoming DCEU films that is currently in the works is Blue Beetle, which will mark the introduction of the titular hero with Jaime Reyes taking the mantle in this iteration. With the plot details being under wraps, there have been questions about whether Ted Kord will show up since a character named "Victoria Kord" will appear in the film as the antagonist. Now, it looks like it will actually be the case and they might have enlisted a well-known actor for the role.

The Cosmic Circus recently discovered a listing on Facebook from Bill Marinella Casting in which they are looking for a person to play Ted Kord's body double in Blue Beetle. In that post, they used a photo of Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis as the reference which highly suggests that the Emmy-winning actor will play the role in the film.

The report also indicated that they heard from their sources that Ted Kord is indeed going to make an appearance in the film although he might only show up through flashbacks and it will only be a minor role. In addition, they also discovered through the listing that Bruna Marquezine's character might also be related to Ted Kord.

So far, Warner Bros. and DC have not made any confirmation regarding Sudeikis' rumored casting in the film so we still have to take it with a grain of salt. However, the listing is very much credible since it comes from the film's casting department so there is a reason to believe that it is true. Let's just wait and see if we will hear an official confirmation about it soon.

If the listing is true, Sudeikis joins the ensemble that already includes Xolo Maridueña, Susan Sarandon, Harvey Guillen, George Lopez, Adriana Barraza, Belissa Escobedo, Bruna Marquezin, Elpidia Carrillo, Damián Alcázar, and Raoul Max Trujillo. Angel Manuel Soto is directing the film from Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer’s screenplay. John Rickard serves as the producer.

Assuming that the casting is true, it is exciting to hear the possibility of Sudeikis being part of a comic book film even in a small role. Even though he might only show up in flashbacks, Ted Kord is an integral character in the comics so it's still a major role and it would be curious to see if he will also appear in a costume.

Blue Beetle is set to be released in theaters on August 18, 2023.
