The Spring anime season is only a few days away, and many winter 2022 anime titles are wrapping up. One of them was Teasing Master Takagi-san Season 3, one of the most well-loved shows of 2022 so far. Teasing Master Takagi-san Season 3 Ending Explained
It is traditional in Japan for a girl to give chocolates to a boy she likes on Valentine's Day, a marked difference from Western cultures, where people in love exchange gifts regardless of genre.
Japan then has a specific day, March 14, exactly one month after Valentine's day, in which boys are expected to reciprocate the gift if they like the girl back.
Of course, most adults in love will not need a designated day to express their love and appreciation, but Takagi, Nishikata, and their friends, are still quite young, so designated days like this are likely to matter to them more - hence Nisihkata's decision to run to the port and meet Takagi before the end of the day.
Will Hamaguchi Confess to Hojo?
Much of the drama of Teasing Master Takagi-san Season 3 episode 12 stems from the fact that Hamaguchi challenges Nishikata to confess to Takagi on the 14th of March, as he's too afraid of confessing to Hojo and wants to feel less alone.
Eventually, Hamaguchi fails to communicate his feelings, much to Hojo's disappointment. The anime leaves their relationship unresolved, though there's Teasing Master Takagi-san movie to look forward to, which might resolve any loose ends.
Do Takagi and Nishikata End Up Together?
Whether or not Takagi and Nishikata would end up together was one of the major questions Season 3 set out to answer. And, of course, there's the show's eternal question; will Nishikata ever get back at Takagi for all the teasing?
In the finale, Nishikata concocts a master plan to make Takagi work for her gift; he decides to place an empty box in her locker, with instructions on how to find her actual gift. Eventually, the boxes will contain nothing but a note of congratulations for completing the challenge. Nishikata would then finally give Takagi a present in person. The plan goes terribly wrong; as Takagi's spaces are all clattered, Nishikata has to place the first box on her chair. The box then falls, so Mina and her friends find it and do the challenge instead of Takagi.
For her part, Takagi never shows up for school that day; she spent the previous day away at a relative's wedding, and the strong winds kept her ferry on the port, leaving Nishikata no chance to challenge her, and plenty of time to realize that he missed her a lot. Nishikata eventually decides to meet Takagi at the port and confess his feelings. Takagi says his feelings are the best gift for her, and the anime ends with them holding hands.

The two don't officially start a relationship, which is only natural given their young age, although a Teasing Master Takagi-san spinoff manga confirms that the two will later get married and have a daughter.
