It has been a year now since the film was released in Japan, and finally, the Teasing Master Takagi-san movie will release in the US on HIDIVE today.
While fans were happy that there’s finally going to be a legal way to watch the film, some expressed their frustration with the series’ split streaming platforms.
Specifically, each of the anime’s seasons is available exclusively in different services, meaning it’s difficult to watch all the show’s episodes seamlessly.
HIDIVE Announces Teasing Master Takagi-san Movie Release
Teasing Master Takagi-san is a popular romantic-comedy anime that’s based on the manga of the same name.
While the manga had a dedicated following before, the series’ popularity shot up considerably when it got an anime adaptation in 2018.
It helps that the anime features well-known VAs, including Rie Takahashi (Ai in Oshi no Ko) and Yuki Kaji (Eren in Attack on Titan) as Takagi and Nishikata, respectively.
Thanks to the first season’s popularity, the series was renewed for a second and a third season. And last year, an anime movie was also released in Japan on June 10.
Interestingly, the Teasing Master Takagi-san movie did not get a US theatrical release last year.
This is unexpected given that there have been lots of anime cinema releases last year, including The Quintessential Quintuplets Movie.
For much of the past year, fans of the series were hoping that the movie will get a US release.
Finally, HIDIVE confirmed that the movie will be streamed beginning today, June 8, 2023.

Fans Are Frustrated by How Difficult It Is to Watch Teasing Master Takagi-san
HIDIVE is also the platform where the anime’s third season is available. Frustratingly, the first and second seasons aren’t on HIDIVE. Instead, Season 1 is available on Crunchyroll while Season 2 is on Netflix.
While fans were happy about the movie’s official release, the fact that it’s a HIDIVE exclusive irked fans, especially considering how spread out the show’s seasons are.
On Reddit, some fans expressed their frustration, especially as they will need to spend money on three subscriptions just to watch it.
There are also others who voiced their disappointment over the HIDIVE release as they shared some of the issues they face when streaming shows on HIDIVE.
Currently, there’s no word yet on whether the Takagi-san movie will also be streamed on other platforms in the future.
