Finally, after months of discussion, Kim So Yeon returns to the small screen with a new drama, Tale of The Nine-Tailed 2.

According to SportsWoordi, the award-winning actress confirms appearance in the much-awaited season and will join Lee Dong Wook and Kim Bum as the main cast.

In a report cited by the outlet, the 41-year-old beauty will headline the fantasy drama's 12-part episode and portray Ryu Hong Joo.

In the Tale of The Nine-Tailed 2, her character will be one of the four mountain gods together with Lee Yeon (Lee Dong Wook.)

Moreover, Ryu Hong Joo is known for her immortal beauty, who owns a top-class restaurant.

In September 202, Soompi revealed tvN's confirmation regarding the renewal for seasons 2 and 3 for the fantasy series but will have a new female lead.

After this, media outlets noted that the Secret Mother star is courted to headline the sequel.

At the time, Kim So Yeon's agency, J-Wide Company, confirmed that she received a casting offer, but "nothing about her appearance has been finalized."

To recall, Jo Bo Ah played the female lead Nam Ji Ah and Ah Eum and received a positive response for her portrayal.


Tale of The Nine-Tailed Season 2: Release Date, Cast and Everything We Know so Far

First released in October 2020, tvN's thriller fantasy Kdrama gained overwhelming praise from the viewers, pointing out the unique storyline and the magnificent visuals.

After confirming the series' renewal, the broadcast network revealed that the Tale of The Nine-Tailed will be extended till season 3.

Interestingly, the second season will cover the Japanese colonial-occupation period dated 1910 to 194, while the third part will focus on the Joseon Dynasty.

As for the number of episodes, tvN announces that they are planning to have 16 episodes, just like in season 1.

With Kim So Yeon on board and portraying a new character, Lee Dong Wook will reprise his role as Lee Yeon. The same goes for Kim Bum, who took on the role of Lee Rang, Lee Yeon's half-brother.

For new Kdrama fans, she is best known as the opera singer Cheon Seo Jin in the mega-hit makjang The Penthouse.

The 41-year-old actress stunned the viewers with her stellar performance as the villain protagonist, where she won numerous recognition.

Her latest was at the 2021 SBS Drama Awards, bagging home the grand prize known as the daesang.

During her acceptance speech, she thanked The Penthouse director and screenwriter as well as her co-stars. Kim So Yeon also expressed gratitude to her husband Lee Sang Woo, describing him as her "healthy and optimistic mentor."

Apart from her upcoming thriller fantasy series with Lee Dong Wook and Kim Bum, the award-winning actress is set to have a reunion project with The Penthouse cast, headlining the pandemic-themed short film, It's Alright.
