Kdrama's good boy Kim Seon Ho is making a grand return in the Hallyu world as he stars in his first-ever movie Sad Tropics.

Following a career-threatening issue in 2021, the production company NEW announced that there are no changes with the cast lineup despite issues surrounding the lead star.

"After much deliberation, the producers of Sad Tropics have decided to film the movie this year with actor Kim Seon Ho," the company said as noted by Soompi.

With Kim Seon Ho's new movie currently in the works, here are the key points to anticipate in his much-awaited film.

Sad Tropics Plot

Helmed by The New World and Night in Paradise director Park Hoon Jung, the story follows the journey of a man whose parents are a Korean father and a Filipino mother.

Aside from his lifelong dream to become a professional boxer, he returns to his homeland to find his father, who abandoned them.

Meet the Cast

Although Kim Seon Ho's role is yet to be confirmed, he will be joined by a roster of talented stars.

In November, Soompi confirmed that Go Ara, Kang Tae Joo and Kim Kang Woo would headline Sad Tropics alongside the Start-Up actor.

According to reports, out of all 1,980 participants who auditioned for the lead role, newcomer Kim Tae Joo got the part and will portray the Korean-Filipino boy.

The rookie actor made a debut in 2020 after landing a bit role in Missing: The Other Side, followed by his first-ever lead role in Nara's Marvelous Days and a supporting role in Hello! Me.

As for the female lead, this will also be Go Ara's comeback movie after starring in the 2016 action thriller film Phantom Detective starring Lee Je Hoon.

Following the cast lineup announcement, Star News shared that Sad Tropics was initially scheduled to start production in mid-November 2021 but was pushed through in December.

Sad Tropics Will be the Only Project of Kim Seon Ho this 2022

Obviously, the wave of criticisms affected Kim Seo Ho's career.

In October, KBS confirmed that they dropped the actor as the official cast of variety show 2 Days & 1 Night Season 4 in the height of the controversy.

In addition, Kim Seon Ho's new movie 2 O'Clock Date was also removed from his lined-up projects.

Due to this, AllKPop shared that he will only focus on his debut movie, Sad Tropics, for 2022.

As noted by the outlet's sources, he is "currently declining offers for various acting roles as well as endorsement model deals, overseas fan meeting offers, and more."
