Taika Waititi Says Avengers: Endgame Will Reward Marvel’s Die Hard Fans

Avengers: Infinity War might have ended with Thanos successfully turning half of the living population of the universe into dust, but Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi believes that Marvel fans are in for a brighter conclusion when Avengers: Endgame comes around later this year.

Though the filmmaker has very little to do with the second installment in Joe and Anthony Russo's two-part Avengers movie, Waititi says that he's heard through the grapevine that fans who've been following the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the past ten years are going to be rewarded in Endgame.

Speaking in an interview with the USA Today during FX's presentation at the TCA Winter Tour Stop, Waititi decided to drop a few tasty tidbits about Endgame. While the director admits that he wasn't able to get the Russo brothers to spill any of the juicy deets about their movie, he does have some news about the upcoming Marvel installment.

"...from what I've heard, it wraps up everything in a really great way," Waititi told the publication. "It feels like the fans are getting rewarded for hanging around for 10 years and watching all these films. Because the more you know about the characters and the stories and stuff, the more satisfying this film will be."

That's good news. Avengers: Endgame is supposed to serve as the culmination of the last ten years of the MCU. Not only should the film end with a bang, but it should also serve as a proper closing to Phase 3 of the franchise, allowing the MCU to move forward with whatever plans Marvel Studios has.

Avengers: Endgame premieres April 26, 2019.
