The Mandalorian Director Taika Waititi Reacts to His Star Wars Film Announcement

In case you missed it, Disney and Lucasfilm have officially announced that Taika Waititi is working on a new Star Wars movie. The news was met by excitement from fans who have been expecting the confirmation. However, it looks like Waititi himself was surprised by the news.

The confirmation was dropped during Disney Investor Day, and the official Star Wars Twitter account posted an update. Interestingly, Waititi reposted the tweet on his official Instagram account along with a hilarious caption. Check it out below.

Fans of Waititi are well aware that this is part of the filmmaker's humor but it's still amusing to see how the Thor: Ragnarok director appeared to be truly thrilled with the project. Needless to say, we can't wait to see what Waititi has in store for us in his upcoming Star Wars movie.

Waititi has already proven that he is perfectly capable of helming a Star Wars project. He had previously worked on the Season 1 finale of The Mandalorian and the episode was heralded as one of the best episodes of the series. With that in mind, it would be interesting to see what else Waititi can do for the franchise.

But when can we expect to see Waititi's Star Wars movie? It may take some time considering that he is expected to begin work on Thor: Love and Thunder early next year. However, it is possible that Waititi will immediately begin work on the project once the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel is completed. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
