Taika Waititi Petitions To Bring James Gunn Back In Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

Fans have their own ideas on who could possibly replace James Gunn as director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Interestingly, fan-favorite Taika Waititi has his own idea: bring Gunn back to helm the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick.

A fan recently decided to ask Marvel Studios and Disney to hire a new director for the third Guardians of the Galaxy film. They tagged their choices in the tweet, mentioning Thor: Ragnarok's Waititi, Baby Driver's Edgar Wright, and 22 Jump Street's Chris Miller.

Interestingly, all three directors responded to the tweet with their own ideas. Wright had his own choice.

It didn't take long before Miller saw the post and supported Wright's suggestion.

Waititi replied with his opinion about hiring Gunn for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

"Agreed. @JamesGunn would bring a fresh energy and style that the first two films were lacking," Waititi wrote.

It's no surprise that none of the mentioned directors is willing to take on the project. Most people still firmly believe that Gunn is the only person who should direct GOTG V3 at this point. After all, he wrote and directed the first two films. In addition to that, Disney and Marvel Studios have every intention to use the script he wrote for Vol. 3.

Although there is little chance that the studios will change their mind about hiring Gunn for the sequel, the director is already moving forward with new projects of his own. It was recently confirmed that Gunn will direct Suicide Squad 2.
