Taika Waititi on Whether Fat Thor Will Appear in Thor: Love and Thunder

Thor: Love and Thunder could be seen as another last hurrah since it stars Chris Hemsworth, who is one of the few original members left from the MCU Phase One Avengers cast. Since a lot of people are looking forward to the character's fourth film, especially with Natalie Portman returning as the Jane Foster version of Thor and Christian Bale making his MCU debut in a mystery role.

We still don't know much about Love and Thunder, aside from some of the information above but director Taika Waititi did reveal something really interesting about his movie; we won't get Fat Thor anymore. That's right, one of the more embarrassing jokes from Avengers: Endgame will not be a part of Love and Thunder, which most of us are more than okay with.

On his Instagram (via CBR), Waititi said "we haven't figured that out, but I feel like that's done," basically telling us that he's done with that joke. There's a good chance that the character will be fat in the beginning and lose it right away but we'll wait and see. This might be due to some of the shenanigans he will be having with the Guardians of the Galaxy, who he decided to chill with at the end of Avengers: Endgame.

As many of you know, Fat Thor divided a lot of fans. Some felt that it was a harmless joke that wasn't very funny, while others felt they were discriminating against people who gain weight when depressed. Considering how Thor lost half of his people and failed to kill Thanos, we can see why "Fat Thor" was criticized.

Thor: Love and Thunder will be coming out on February 8, 2022.
