Sydney Sweeney has weighed in on the box office disappointment and the polarizing reviews that Madame Web received.

The film has become the subject of ridicule and negative headlines ever since the reviews came as critics consider it to be one of the worst comic book movies of all time.

The actress has also poked fun at the movie when she hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live earlier this month. It even became the butt of the joke in Jimmy Kimmel's monologue at the recent Oscars ceremony.

In an interview with The Los Angeles Times, Sweeney opened up about the negative reception that Madame Web has received both critically and financially.

The Julia Cornwall actress responded by saying that she is unfazed by the reactions.

"I was just hired as an actress in it, so I was just along for the ride for whatever was going to happen," she said.

It helps that Sweeney has another career win at the moment since Anyone But You became a surprise box office success as it grossed more than $200 million. She is also receiving praise for her performance in the new horror film Immaculate.

Sweeney is the second cast member who has properly responded to the film's polarizing reception since its release in theaters last month.

Dakota Johnson also weighed in on Madame Web's critical failure during a recent interview with Bustle.

She told the outlet, "But it was definitely an experience for me to make that movie. I had never done anything like it before. I probably will never do anything like it again because I don’t make sense in that world. And I know that now."

We can safely say at this point that we won't see a sequel where Sweeney's character Julia Cornwall and the others become Spider-Women despite the tease at the end of the film.

It is interesting to see whether Sony will make changes to the future of the Spider-Man Universe franchise in the aftermath of what happened to Madame Web.
