The new Sony's Spider-Man Universe film Madame Web is set to finally arrive in theaters this week. It will introduce a new all-female team of superheroes led by Dakota Johnson's Cassandra Webb and expand the wider universe of Spider-Man characters.

However, considering that the franchise's track record has been mixed so far, some fans have been wondering about whether the film will live up to its potential or it will be just another disappointment.

It also doesn't help that the film was already ridiculed by the public as one of the lines has become the subject of a meme and unflattering headlines.

Last night, Madame Web held its premiere event where several journalists, critics, pundits, and influencers were invited to watch the film in advance.

They were also able to share their first reactions on social media afterward and weighed in on what they think about the new Sony's Spider-Man Universe film.

Unfortunately, the majority of the responses have been negative so far with criticisms towards its pacing, screenplay, editing, and lack of appeal. While they acknowledged that the concept had potential, they felt that it wasn't executed well in the final results.

Here are some of the reaction posts:

This is certainly not an encouraging start for the film's word-of-mouth as it is set to arrive in theaters this Valentine's Day and it is a sign that the actual reviews will also be mostly negative once the embargo lifts.

It is possible that the audience might have a different response when they see the film themselves, but these early reactions could also discourage them from watching it in theaters.

However, the most important verdict will be the box office results since that will indicate whether it is an actual hit amongst moviegoers or it will just be another Morbius and continue the streak of disappointments in the franchise.

It is interesting to see how it will all play out in the coming days as more people will weigh in on the latest offering from the Sony franchise.
