Sword of the Demon Hunter finally confirmed its June release date recently. What’s more, the anime is also confirmed to have an hour-long premiere, continuing the recent trend of nearly feature-length first episodes.

Even though the anime has yet to get another trailer, a new one should be released in the coming weeks. Hopefully, it will finally show off more clips that give fans a better idea of what to expect.

Yokohama Animation Laboratory Is Sword of the Demon Hunter’s Studio

The show’s previous trailer was released back in February, and it features short clips of the new anime that show off the animation by studio Yokohama Animation Laboratory.

While it may not be the most talked-about studio out there, it does have a strong lineup of shows released over the past years.

Some of these include this season’s Whisper Me a Love Song, along with The Witch and the Beast, The Kingdoms of Ruin, and The New Gate.

Sword of the Demon Hunter is based on a light novel that ended in November 2023. The anime was announced way back in September 2021, though it was only earlier this year that more details were revealed.

Now, it’s confirmed that Sword of the Demon Hunter will premiere on June 27. In Japan, the show will air on Tokyo MX, MBS, and BS Fuji.

There’s no word yet on a streaming platform partner for the show in the US.

Given that the studio’s recent projects were streamed either on Crunchyroll or HIDIVE, their latest work will likely be streamed on one of those two.

Sword of the Demon Hunter Is the Latest Anime to Get an Hour-Long Premiere

Whichever platform it will be streamed on, the premiere promises to be an exciting one, as its first episode will air as an hour-long special.

This hour-long broadcast will be on TV in Japan, likely meaning that the timeslot will feature ads. Thus, it’s likely that the episode will be double the length of a typical episode instead of being feature-length.

Still, this is the latest in the trend of anime with hour-long premieres. After all, we’ve seen plenty of shows do the same, such as Oshi no Ko and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End.
