Surprising Guardians of the Galaxy Character May Be Getting His Own MCU Spin-off Series

I feel like people don't give him enough credit for it but James Gunn's work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is unparalleled simply because he was able to turn a group of pretty much D-list comic book characters into heroes on par with the Avengers. And it doesn't come as a surprise anymore how he's been tasked to work on all Guardians of the Galaxy projects including the upcoming third sequel because he just knows what he's doing.

Now, the expansion of the MCU through Disney+ has undoubtedly opened new possibilities for the director to explore more stories featuring his intergalactic bunch. In fact, Kevin Feige announced during Disney's Investor Day last December that Marvel Studios is working on two spin-off projects featuring our favorite "Space Avengers" — I am Groot and the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.

Now, in a new scoop from tipster Daniel Richtman, the GOTG franchise will reportedly be getting another spin-off show featuring a surprising character. According to his latest Patreon report, Sylvester Stallone's character Starhawk will be returning to the MCU for his own Disney+ series which seems a little too intriguing considering he only made a cameo appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

With his rumored involvement in his own show, it's safe to assume that Stallone could end up reprising his role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 or as early as Thor: Love and Thunder where the Guardians are also set to appear. Still, this new development is interesting, to say the least, because none of us ever thought that the studio was planning something else for the acting legend other than a brief cameo.

This still remains as a rumor, of course, so let's just wait and see how everything plays out. I'd be down to see Stallone make his way back to the MCU anyway.

Meanwhile, Thor: Love and Thunder will hit cinemas in 2022.
