Spidey is Forced to Fight Venomized Avengers in Spider-Man: Maximum Venom

I know what you're thinking and no, that's not a typo. For Marvel's Spider-Man season 3 on Disney XD, the animated series will be renamed Spider-Man: Maximum Venom and have a number of iconic heroes possessed by the Venom symbiote. As if that wasn't bad enough, Spidey also finds himself in the clutches of a symbiote as he tries to save everyone else.

The big title change isn't just a fancy way of getting your attention since Marvel's Spider-Man will also do something different with its format. Rather than doing a number of 20-minute episodes, Maximum Venom will comprise of six hour-long episodes that detail the conflict between Spidey, Venom, and the Venomized Avengers. Hopefully, this also means a change in animation style but I digress.

According to the information released during D23, all of these symbiotes come from Venom's home planet, which could mean that we'll see some Absolute Carnage similarities. Granted, that comic actually has a disgraced symbiote God trying to possess everyone who has ever used a symbiote but the fact that there will be Vemonized Avengers means that there are some big influences.

Fans of the ‘90s can tell that this show's title is based on the controversial Maximum Carnage comic book event, which has a mixed reputation to this day. While most would agree that it's a mess, there are some decent moments, like the art and some of the fights. Hopefully, the show doesn't take too much from the comic book event.

Spider-Man: Maximum Venom will air sometime in 2020 on Disney XD.
