Super Junior Yesung almost quit the boy group shortly after they debuted.
Yesung has been with Super Junior for nearly two decades. After he was signed as a trainee under SM Entertainment, he became part of a then-project group, Super Junior 05 in 2005.
The boy group then officially became Super Junior and a permanent group that saw some members come and go. To ELFs’ surprise, the main vocalist also almost left them.

Super Junior Yesung Says Journey as a Singer Was Not Easy
The balladeer recently appeared on the June 9 episode of the SBS show Fantastic Family. The Super Junior member said that he almost quit due to the struggles he went through.
According to Yesung, he lost his confidence as his fellow members became immediately popular. Since the spotlights were focused on the other members, he reportedly received no opportunities.

"I trained for five years before debut, and I had the most parts in the songs for our debut album. But I couldn't find myself in the music video even though I was there, filming with the rest of the guys. My heart sank at the fact, and I felt so frustrated at that time. My feelings back then are hard to put into words,” he said.
He then thought of leaving everything after their debut album. But in the end, he chose to push himself harder – and his choice has since paid off.
Super Junior Got Inspired by a Woman
Elsewhere in the interview, Yesung shared a story about his lifelong dream to become a K-pop star.
He revealed that it started when he tried to do something good in front of the girl he liked when he was in middle school. At that time, he reportedly wanted to impress her so he sang during their school’s music festival.
Yesung said it was the first time his family heard him sing properly, and he ended up continuing his passion.
Fortunately, his performance at the festival led him to an audition that made him become a member of Super Junior.
