While Garouden: The Way of the Lone Wolf season 2 has yet to be announced, let's take a closer look at the amazing fighters that rocked viewers with their respective martial arts styles. From Fujimaki to Himekawa, here are the strongest characters in Garouden: The Way of the Lone Wolf so far!

Note that the characters on the list have shown their combat prowess, which means characters such as The Great Tsutsumi and Shozan Matsuo will not be included since they have yet to fight in the series.

  1. Ichiro Shino

He once won the famous Hokushinkan tournament, making him the strongest fighter in all the schools of martial arts. As part of the Hokushinkan school, Ichiro is trained to always attack head-on.

However, Shino lost in the first round of yet another Hokushinkan tournament against Johei Tsutsumi and went downhill. He even went crazy after he lost and hurt one of his students in the process.

Now, he's retired and has been focusing on teaching his students and even police officers. His last fight was with Juuzou Fujimaki, who easily defeated him.

  2. Joze Carlos Nagato

Nagato is a highly skilled boxer who has a heavyweight build. At the age of 17, he went pro, but following his father's death, he disappeared from the spotlight.

Still, he never missed a training session. As a result, he was able to deal with kicks, even though it was known that kicks are a boxer's weakness.

He's now training with Ranbo, who introduces himself as an old man who's researching ancient ways. Unfortunately, Nagato can't even land a punch on the old man.

  3. Ryuoumaru

Ryuoumaru specializes in sekiwake sumo, but the sumo world banished him after he got caught harassing his apprentices.

At some point, he tried mixed martial arts but retired with nothing to show. Then, it was rumored that he went to China to learn Bajiquan, a fighting style characterized by blows powered by body weight at a very close range.

He was able to fight Juuzou on equal footing, but it wasn't enough to defeat him in the match.

  4. Eiji Mifune

Eiji Mifune is the former King of the Cage who's now working with his son and advisor Kaito when he's fighting.

He has an impressive build and he utilizes a number system with Kaito to overwhelm his opponents.

Similar to boxing, they number the attacks so Kaito can call out instructions for him. However, they put it for defensive use instead of offensive, making a huge difference.

Impressively, Kaito can read his father's opponent's moves and accurately predict their attacks.

Together, they can go out of a match without receiving damage, all while overpowering their opponents.

  5. Oleg Zaitzev

The white-haired Oleg, who let his actions speak for himself, is one of the strongest fighters during the duration of the Kodoku underground tournament.

He is extremely weird and intimidating, known for his peculiar and unpredictable techniques.

Oleg has his own special assassination fighting style, which is created to kill on a battlefield.

At a glance, he looks like he'd be able to kill an opponent no matter what position or situation he finds himself in.

In addition, his joints have an unparalleled range of motion, which is one reason Himekawa couldn't win against him in the past.

  6. Bunshichi Tanba

Bunshichi Tanba is the original protagonist of the Garouden series, known for his interest in challenging and destroying dojos one after the other.

He is a drifter who destroyed Ichiro Shino's senior student effortlessly at the beginning of the series.

What's more, Tanba was also able to defeat Soichiro Izumi, even though the latter was known as the original master of the Takemiya School.

Despite his impressive feats in the first season, he needs to have more screen time in the series so that we can compare his strength to Juuzou and Tsutomu.

  7. Juuzou Fujimaki

Who would've known that in the first episode of Garouden, we would be able to see Juuzou overwhelming a brown bear with his bare hands?

Although he sustains injuries from the fight with the bear, his resilience is still impressive, as his injuries heal more quickly than normal.

Juuzou is known as a martial arts specialist from the Takemiya school. He hates fighting other people because of the experience that traumatized him.

When he gets angry or when someone pushes him beyond his limits, the beast inside him awakens.

In the underground tournament, he managed to defeat strong opponents such as Mifune and even Oleg Zaitzev.

  8. Tsutomu Himekawa

Tsutomu Himekawa defeated Juuzou Fujimaki in the final match of the Kodoku. He's not only Juuzou's rival in martial arts but also a rival to Saeko.

Before his match with Juuzou, Tsutomu went to Soichiro Izumi to apprentice under him.

With this, he was able to counter Juuzou's Tiger King, ultimately defeating the latter in front of thousands of viewers.

He is Hokushinkan's fourth dan black belt, known for his elegant yet sharp fighting style as if his whole body works like a machine.
