Stranger Things Star Millie Bobby Brown to Face a Dragon in Netflix’s ‘Damsel’

Millie Bobby Brown has proven herself as Netflix gold, what with the success of both Stranger Things and Enola Holmes. Now she's teaming up with the streaming service again to work on something a bit more medieval.

According to Collider, Brown has been cast as a lead in Netflix's Damsel, a film directed by 28 Weeks Later helmer Juan Carlos Fresnadillo. We don't have an official synopsis from Netflix now, but sources do describe the plot:

… The story follows a young princess who is married off to a rival kingdom and immediately finds herself in danger when it's revealed that her new home has a nasty little secret — during the harvest season, the kingdom sacrifices their princesses to a hungry dragon.

With Brown usually being the strong female lead in these kid-friendly franchises, I have a feeling that Damsel is going to be of the same vein. Even the title of the film is already alluding to the term ‘Damsel in Distress' which I doubt Brown's character is going to be.

Then again, it's possible that the film could be a lot closer to Midsommar than Snow White and the Huntsman. With director Fresnadillo being known for his work on horror, it's very possible we could be watching Brown be in some kind of scary medieval setting where she has to not only fight off the dragon, but the crazed villagers who planned to sacrifice her.

Until Netflix gives us an official description, all we can really do is guess.

No release date has been set for Damsel, but you can catch Brown in Stranger Things and Enola Holmes now on Netflix.
