Hellboy and Police Chief Jim Hopper from Netflix's horror science fiction series Stranger Things might seem to have little in common, but according to David Harbour, the actor that plays both characters, Hellboy's unwilling Harbinger of the Apocalypse and Jim actually share a pretty similar core.

Speaking in an interview with Vanity Fair, Harbour decided to open up about the upcoming Hellboy movie that he's been working together with director Neil Marshall. During the exchange with the publication, the Stranger Things star decided to point out the similarities between Hellboy and Jim. According to Harbour the World Destroyer might be a terrifying character, but he still shares the same core as the "dude who's trapped in horrible circumstances who's just trying to be a good guy."

Yeah, he's terrifying!" Harbour told the publication. "There's that question of, why am I fighting this battle? Just because of some sense of justice, or some sense of good? It's a really interesting question that sort of is at the core of him, that he struggles with . . . I know that [writer] [Mike] Mignola and [director] Neil [Marshall] and [producer] Lloyd [Levin] all watched Stranger Things and saw that in what I did there, which is similar."

"He has a heart that's really good and with a lot of this crusted-over stuff," the actor continued. " What I'm dealing with in Hellboy is a lot different, bigger in a certain way. It's very Shakespearean. It's demons and witches and stuff like that. But it has a similar core to a dude who's trapped in horrible circumstances who's just trying to be a good guy."

Based on Harbour's comments, it seems like the actor's got Hellboy's character down pat. In the comics, the Harbinger of the Apocalypse might seem terrifying and aggressive, but he's also got a heart. Sure Harbour might have large shoes to fill coming after the Hellboy films of director Guillermo Del Toro, but we're pretty sure the actor will be able to do fine on his own as the new Hellboy replacing original actor, Ron Perlman.

Hellboy is set to release sometime January 2019.
