Stranger Things Star David Harbour Opens Up About 'Hellboy' Problems

The 2019 Hellboy reboot seems to be a failure in both reviews and box office numbers, making the possibilities for a sequel really low. Fans were initially excited when they revealed the first look of Hellboy in the reboot, played by Stranger Things star David Harbour, but the ridiculously poor reviews made fans avoid it like the plague, hence its $21 million box office.

Speaking with Digital Spy, Harbour revealed that there were a lot of problems with the movie while they were filming, though he did defend the film. Harbour feels that it shouldn't have been compared to Marvel so much since fans who catch this on an airplane or Netflix probably won't hate this, at least according to the actor.

Here is his full response:

"We did our best, but there's so many voices that go into these things and they're not always going to work out. I did what I could do and I feel proud of what I did, but ultimately I'm not in control of a lot of those things."
"The problem that I have with comic book movies nowadays is that I think, and it's a result of the power of Marvel stuff, it's like chocolate, it's a flavor. And I sort of want a world where there's more flavors than just comparisons to chocolate. So in that way when Hellboy is viewed on the chocolate spectrum, it does very poorly."

It really is a shame that the Hellboy 2019 reboot didn't work out since the original comics have so much creativity and amazing moments. Seeing some of them in live-action would have been amazing but it wasn't meant to be. At least we have the Guillermo del Toro movies.

Hellboy 2019 will get a Blu-Ray and digital release soon.
