Many wish for the return of Joseph Quinn as Eddie Munson in Stranger Things Season 5, but it looks like his co-star, Maya Hawke, is not fond of that idea.

Hawke admitted to sympathizing with fans who inevitably fell in love with Eddie, but she believed bringing him back to life in Stranger Things Season 5 wasn’t a good idea. Why? Here’s what she had to say.

Maya Hawke on Eddie’s Possible Return in Stranger Things Season 5

According to Screen Rant, there’s a debate about bringing back dead characters in shows like Stranger Things.

For some, it’s not a good idea at all, though others seem to welcome that notion.

But for Hawke herself, there may be no need to bring Eddie back to life in Stranger Things Season 5.

“I totally sympathize with fans who want to see more of him. … I feel like we can’t keep killing people and bringing them back to life – the same fans would be so annoyed!” she told NME. “But I would love them to find a way to have Eddie’s ghost in the mix, just because Joe Quinn is such an awesome guy. He’s so much fun to have on set and such a great actor.”

Quinn himself has thought of bringing back his character as a ghost in the series’ final season.

“Maybe I'd be like a figment of Gaten's imagination or something,” he told Radio Times. “Like if there could be some kind of room for something like that, something a bit supernatural.”

Seeing Eddie as a ghost may not be impossible because the show features a strong supernatural element.

Fans even suggest Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) resurrect Eddie to be his minion, though this may not sit well with the viewers who have loved Eddie for his good heart.

For starters, Eddie has made a mark in the minds of many after showing his heroic side, saving his friends and the town that hates him, and, of course, his “most metal” guitar performance of Metallica’s classic hit, “Master of Puppets.”

The Duffer Brothers on Joseph Quinn’s Return in Stranger Things Season 5

The Duffer Brothers have confirmed that Stranger Things Season 5 will be the series’ last, but they’ve yet to figure out some of the series’ storylines.

So, have they already considered the possible return of Eddie in Stranger Things Season 5?

In an interview with the podcast Happy Sad Confused, via Bolavip, Matt and Ross Duffer talked about the fan-favorite Stranger Things Season 4 character Eddie.

They said Quinn’s role was meant to be “a doomed character” from the beginning, though they didn’t reveal if fans would see him again in the final season.

Many believed he could return in the series the way Dacre Montgomery, who played the role of Billy, was seen in the fourth season through Max’s (Sadie Sink) imagination.

However, the Duffer Brothers revealed Eddie’s death would have “huge repercussions” for the survivors in Stranger Things Season 5.

With his strong bond with Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), he might be the most affected by his demise. But it remained to be seen how it would play out.
