All eyes are now on Stranger Things Season 5 after the heart-breaking and cliffhanging Season 4 finale. However, despite what happened to Joseph Quinn’s instant fan-favorite character Eddie Munson, the actor expressed interest in returning to the final season.

Will fans see Quinn in Stranger Things Season 5? For sure, many hope so, and the 29-year-old star himself has an idea on how to make it happen.

The Possible Return of Joseph Quinn in Stranger Things Season 5

According to Screenrant, Quinn discussed the idea for his character’s possible return in the fifth season with co-star Joe Keery, who plays Steve.

In an interview with RadioTimes, Quinn revealed he and Keery had imagined Eddie could make an appearance in Dustin’s (Gaten Matarazzo) imagination. He, too, could return through “supernatural means if possible.”

"Me and Joe Keery were discussing ways in which I could kind of...maybe I'd be like a figment of Gaten's imagination or something,” he said. “Like if there could be some kind of room for something like that, something a bit supernatural.”

However, the Make Up star knew his character had already fulfilled his purpose in the series.

"But my suspicion is that Eddie has done what he needed to do for the [Duffer] brothers,” he explained.

The End of Eddie in Stranger Things Season 4

Warning: The following content will be full of Stranger Things Season 4 spoilers.

Quinn joined Stranger Things Season 4 as the metalhead guitarist and Hellfire club leader Eddie Munson.

He was accused of being responsible for the gruesome deaths of Hawkins’ students. Thankfully, he got the help of Dustin, Max (Sadie Sink), Nancy (Natalia Dyer), Steve and Robin (Maya Hawke) to clear his name.

The group eventually learned that the real culprit behind the murders was Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) from Upside Down.

Despite the danger, Eddie joined them to stop the killings and save their town.

While on a mission to kill Vecna, Eddie sacrificed himself by distracting the Demobats to let Nancy, Steve and Robin find the villain.

However, as a colony of Demobats attacked him, he succumbed to his wounds while being held by the distraught Dustin.

By the looks of it, this scene has sealed the fate of Quinn in the series.

Anyhow, the show has let its already-dead characters, like Bob (Sean Astin) and Billy (Dacre Montgomery), return to life through flashbacks and small cameos.

So, this opens the possibility that Quinn may be once again seen as Eddie in Stranger Things Season 5.

Stranger Things Season 5 as the Final Season

Meanwhile, in a letter to fans in February, the Duffer Brothers revealed Stranger Things Season 5 would be the series’ final season.

"Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for Stranger Things," Matt and Ross Duffer wrote via Marie Claire. “At the time, we predicted the story would last four or five seasons. It proved too large to tell in four, but—as you'll soon see for yourselves—we are now hurtling toward our finale. Season 4 will be the penultimate season; season 5 will be the last."

Executive producer Shawn Levy then revealed in an interview with Us Weekly that the Duffer Brothers had been contemplating a thoughtful and fully-formed ending for the show.

"We don’t want to be one of those shows that outstays its welcome and is flailing while it searches for a way to stick the landing," he explained. "We really want to stick the landing. I feel like we have been able to do that every season and we also want to do it for the series."
