Stranger Things fans might be eager to get their hands on the next batch of episodes after the events of the last season of the hit science fiction horror series, but it looks like everyone's going to have to wait a bit longer than expected.

According to a report by Screen Rant, it seems unlikely that Stranger Things fans are going to get the fourth season of the series by 2020. Production for Stranger Things Season 4 is set to begin sometime in January next year and work on the show is reportedly expected to conclude in August. Netflix may need more time for reshoots and for editing, so that leaves very little time for the new batch of episodes to premiere next year.

The site says that the production schedule suggests a premiere during spring 2021 – a date that's much later than fans hoped. Everyone's eager to see what's become of Jim Hopper (David Harbour) after the sacrifice that he made in the last season of Stranger Things. Did the police chief really die? Or was he taken in by the Russians? What's going to happen to El (Millie Bobby Brown) now that she's lost her powers? What's going to happen to El and the Byers now that they've decided to move out of Hawkins?

Season 3 left Stranger Things fans so many questions, and it seems like it's going to take a while before we get any answers. Hopefully, it'll be worth the wait.

Stranger Things Season 4 doesn't have an official release date yet but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
