In the epic 150-minute final episode of Stranger Things Season 4, Vecna manages to capture Eleven and restrains her with his vines as he prepares to kill Max. In this scene, Jamie Campbell Bower is fully made up as Vecna and being in close proximity with the monster (despite the friendly face behind all the prosthetics) was just too terrifying for Millie Bobby Brown.

“They brought her up into a position where she’s bound. I walked up to her [as Vecna] and she burst into tears. She wouldn’t look at me and she was visibly just disgusted by the whole thing,” Bower told Variety.

Luckily, Brown eventually calmed down and revealed how she realized it was Bower all along. “After she cried and I made it obvious that she knew it was me, one of the things she said was that, ‘I knew it was you when I could smell cigarettes,’ because I’m a smoker,” Bower added.

It must have been a relief for Brown when she realized that the monster isn't actually real and that it was her good friend all along. Still, it's proof that Vecna is the scariest of all the monsters in Stranger Things.

All episodes of Stranger Things Season 4 are now streaming on Netflix.
