Stranger Things: Duffer Brothers Paid Tribute to Stephen King and Steven Spielberg Project in Season 4 Volume 2

There is little doubt that Stranger Things Season 4 had several Easter eggs and references, which is something that fans have come to expect in the Netflix series. However, Volume 2 actually had a cool tribute to Stephen King and Steven Spielberg who the Duffer brothers will be collaborating with in their next major project!

In the final episode of Stranger Things Season 4, Eleven managed to stop Vecna from killing Max but the damage had already been done. Max's limbs had already been broken and her eyes were almost sucked into her head but she somehow survived. Not surprisingly, Lucas later kept Max company as she lay in a coma in the hospital.

To connect with Max, Lucas chose to read her a book and it's not just any book. Lucas is reading Stephen King and Peter Straub's The Talisman, which is about a boy in search of a powerful crystal (the Talisman) to cure his mother of cancer. If you didn't already know, the Duffer brothers have recently been confirmed to work on an adaptation of the novel.

Back in March, it was announced that Matt and Ross Duffer will serve as executive producers on the upcoming series adaptation of the 1984 novel. Curtis Gwinn, a writer who has worked on Stranger Things, will pen and executive produce the show with the Duffers. Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television and Paramount Television Studios will produce in association with Netflix.

The Talisman is just one of the major projects that the Duffer brothers will be working on with their new company Upside Down Pictures. The company will also produce a new live-action adaptation of Death Note, the manga written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. However, only The Talisman got an awesome nod in Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 2.

All nine episodes of Stranger Things Season 4 are now streaming on Netflix.
