Steve Carell Wants to Bring the Military to Space in New Stills from Netflix’s Space Force

The Office is one of the most popular shows on Netflix, and with the series set to leave soon, the streaming giant has teamed up with Office showrunner Greg Daniels and Steve Carell to bring us a show called Space Force; which is loosely based on Donald Trump's idea to bring the military to space.

Here are our first stills of the show:

The simple tagline for the show is that it focuses on: "The people tasked with creating a sixth branch of the armed services: The Space Force." Carell is apparently playing general Mark R. Naird, and air force pilot who has been tasked to command the military's newest branch.

As you can see, the series has a star-studded cast. Besides Carell, we also have the likes of John Malkovich, Lisa Kudrow, Jimmy O. Yang, and Ben Schwartz. I think Office fans will also be happy to know that Owen Daniels, who plays Obie on the show, played David Wallace's son in The Office.

It's still unclear what format the show will take, but for the sake of realism, I think Space Force can use The Office's mockumentary format to its advantage. If not, I can imagine it can still work as a single camera comedy.

Though it's a bummer that The Office is leaving Netflix, hopefully Daniels and Carell can give us a new ‘workplace comedy' with Space Force. Fingers crossed we get cameos and guest appearances from the Office stars like Rainn Wilson or John Krasinski.

Space Force hits Netflix this coming May 29.
