Starfield, the highly-anticipated role-playing game from Bethesda Game Studios, is expected to release next year, and now, the developer has given an update about it. Earlier this year, Bethesda announced that it's planning to release Starfield on November 11, 2022. However, since this reveal, not a lot of news came out about the project, but Bethesda director Todd Howard is feeling confident that the game will be released on this date.
During a recent interview with IGN, Howard was asked if he feels strongly about the prospect of Starfield launching roughly one year from today.
"I don't know if I ever feel good. I'm usually confident," Howard told IGN. "You know, this is how things line up. But we want to do the best job that we can and there's still so much to do. I feel good about the game and we're confident about the date."
Howard went on to share a small update about the development of Starfield, revealing that the RPG is playable from start to finish at this point of time. The director went on to say that while much of the work left to be completed is largely polish, there are still larger things to be done.
However, Howard said that much of the development on the game has gone better than expected, especially in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The director explained that Bethesday Game Studios is used to working remotely at times, so it was easy for the studio to adapt to different working conditions. Even though Howard admits that he can't see the future in these strange times we're living in, he feels confident that Starfield will be released on time in November 2022.
Howard also discussed the legacy of Skyrim and the studio's next project after Starfield, Elder Scrolls 6.
Starfield is confirmed to release exclusively for Xbox Series X and PC.
