Star Wars: Werner Herzog Talks the 'Phenomenal Achievement' of The Mandalorian

Jon Favreau's The Mandalorian has a lot of stars attached to it, and one of them is actor/director Werner Herzog who looks to be playing an ex-Imperial. Being a director himself Herzog talks about the ‘phenomenal achievement' of the show and gives us a teaser of what to expect from the first live-action Star Wars series.

Watch Herzog gush as he talks to AP Entertainment:

"Green screen, green screen everywhere, in the camera, motion control moving there. All of a sudden you have a phenomenal step forward. As an actor, you see the entire planet on which you are [standing]. You see the landscape, you see the formation. The camera could even be handheld and move in-between us, sees the same landscape, it's not green screen and artificiality. It brings movie-making back where it should be. It's phenomenal, [a] phenomenal achievement."

With Star Wars best known for its spectacle, a lot of pressure is on The Mandalorian to deliver. We don't really know what to expect officially, but if you've checked out the leaked footage from Star Wars Celebration that's been going around online, you'll see that the show looks like it will be in the same quality as the films. If Favreau manages to pull this off, then we could probably be looking at an Obi-Wan miniseries or maybe a follow-up to Solo: A Star War Story.

Besides The Mandalorian, Disney is also working on a show centered on Cassian Andor from Rogue One. We don't know when it comes out, but it's likely we could be getting it sometime next year.

For now, everyone is waiting for The Mandalorian's debut on Disney+ which launches on Nov. 12.
