Star Wars: Werner Herzog May Have Confirmed He Is Playing The Mandalorian Villain

We already have some idea about most of the main characters in the upcoming Star Wars series The Mandalorian. However, it is still unclear who will be the real bad guy in the Disney+ show. Interestingly, Werner Herzog may have confirmed that he is playing the villain opposite Pedro Pascal.

Herzog was recently interviewed by The Hollywood Reporter while attending the Cannes Film Festival. When asked how he ended up becoming a part of The Mandalorian, the German filmmaker revealed that he got an invite to become a part of the series.

"I was invited. I have never seen a Star Wars film, but it doesn't matter. Whenever I accept an acting role, first and foremost I have to see the screenplay and [decide]: Does it make sense for me to play the role? So I have rejected many, many things that came at me. Hundreds of roles. The quality of the screenplay is the only criteria. And would I be the right choice? Can I do it? When it's like in Jack Reacher — the badass, bad guy — yes, I can do it," Herzog said.

Interestingly, the filmmaker had portrayed the villainous Zec Chelovek in the 2012 movie. Does this mean that his character in the Star Wars series will be similar to The Zec? We'll probably learn more about Herzog's new role pretty soon.

The Mandalorian also stars Gina Carano, Carl Weathers, Nick Nolte, and Giancarlo Esposito. The series has not yet been given an official release date. Nevertheless, it is expected to premiere on Disney+ by November.
