Star Wars: Mark Hamill Pays Tribute To The Late Grumpy Cat

The world recently lost a social media icon that paved the way to several memes. Grumpy Cat, whose real name was Tardar Sauce, passed away at the age of seven. Not surprisingly, numerous celebrities paid tribute to the perpetually grumpy feline and one of them was Star Wars actor Mark Hamill.

Hamill took to his official Twitter account to pen a sweet message for Grumpy Cat along with a few images that will surely make you smile. Take a look at his post below.

"She was a part of all of us," Hamill wrote, adding the hashtag #RIPGrumpyCat. He shared a photo of Tardar Sauce as well as an image of himself looking just as grumpy as the feline. The third photo features Hamill's fellow Star Wars actor Harrison Ford and Ford's quote about grumpiness: "Am I grumpy? I might be. But I think sometimes it's misinterpreted."

Hamill may have taken a page out of Grumpy Cat's book when he portrayed the older Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Hamill's gruff performance in the film has led to several memes comparing the character to Tardar Sauce.

Grumpy Cat's permanently unhappy appearance was due to an underbite and feline dwarfism. Although Tardar always appears grumpy, her owner Tabatha Bundesen claimed that the feline had a sweet personality and was pretty much just "a regular cat." Grumpy Cat skyrocketed to internet superstardom after Bundesen's brother Bryan shared her photo on Reddit in 2012.

Grumpy Cat passed away on May 14, 2019, due to complications from a urinary tract infection. She was only seven years old.

Hamill is expected to return as (a hopefully less grumpy) Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which premieres on December 20.
