There's no denying that the Star Wars franchise boasts an impressive collection of antagonists — from Darth Vader to Moff Gideon but arguably the most ruthless and cunning of them all has yet to make his entry into the live-action universe. Grand Admiral Thrawn is reportedly set to make his anticipated debut in the Ahsoka series but the identity of the actor who will breathe life into the character remains a huge question mark.

Now, an interesting theory seems to shed light on the mystery surrounding the Star Wars Rebel baddie and it pretty much suggests that Lucasfilm could be pulling an unexpected trick on fans.

Comic Book Resources speculates that Jude Law's intriguing character in the upcoming Skeleton Crew series could end up being revealed as Grand Admiral Thrawn in disguise. While the outlet doesn't have a valid argument to back up the theory, CBR's Joshua Patton suggests it could be a strategy on Lucasfilm's part to introduce Thrawn to casual fans who have no prior knowledge of the villain created by Timothy Zahn.

I gotta say, as intriguing as it could be, this specific theory may be too much of a reach, especially if you take into consideration how Lucasfilm is reportedly eyeing Lars Mikkelsen, the voice of Thrawn to play the menacing villain in live-action. But hey, we love a good swerve and if that's what they are planning, it could end up being brilliant.

As it stands, no official release date has been announced for Skeleton Crew but the series is expected to hit Disney+ sometime in 2023.
