Star Wars Theory Says Darksaber Actually Belongs to Luke Skywalker

Star Wars fans all know that the Darksaber is an ancient Mandalorian relic dating to eons past in Star Wars lore. However, it seems like there's this odd fan theory making the rounds on the internet suggesting that the Darksaber fans get to see in the hands of Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) at the end of Season One of Star Wars: The Mandalorian is actually owned by Luke Skywalker.

According to a theory posted on Reddit, Luke Skywalker may have inadvertently owned the Darksaber at some point in time during the Star Wars original trilogy. In The Clone Wars, fans get to see Maul taking the Darksaber after slaying Pre Vizsla, the descendent of Tarre Vizsla, the creator of the weapon. Though the Darksaber wasn't with Maul during his confrontation with Obi-Wan Kenobi in the desert, the fact that Jedi manages to kill the Sith Lord makes the weapon his.

The theory suggests that Obi-Wan could have claimed the ancient sword for himself and then pass it on to his apprentice, Luke Skywalker, after dying at the end of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.

While all of this seems possible, the fan theory becomes null and void because we don't really get to see Obi-Wan take the Darksaber in Star Wars canon. It's an interesting interpretation of the ownership of the Darksaber, that's for sure, but we're probably going to get a different story once the second season of Star Wars: The Mandalorian rolls in.
