Star Wars Theory: What If Snoke Were The Last Jedi?

Another Star Wars theory has emerged, speculating that Supreme Leader Snoke might be the title character in the highly anticipated film, Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Snoke has remained an enigma since his appearance in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Add that mystery to the identity of the character alluded to in the upcoming film, and the two of them just might sync.

The theory was posted by a fan named AnakinKardashian on Reddit, and a lot of his arguments makes sense. One thread running through them is the recent Jedi obsession with its own mysterious history.

Luke (Mark Hamill) is in search of the lost Jedi Temple. A recent Star Wars novel had Palpatine sending his troops to hunt for "an ancient secret."

Now tie all that with the untold origins of Snoke (Andy Serkis). The films allude he is neither Jedi nor Sith, but that he is very, very old. Kylo Ren's lightsabre, which could have come from him, also has a distinct craftsmanship, and its origins, too, are ancient.

AnakinKardashian sees Snoke as the common denominator between the mysterious Jedi origins and his own unique order. Maybe "missing link" would be a better description. What if Snoke is indeed the last of the Jedi force millennia ago, before he became that something different?

AnakinKardashian continues to ask intriguing questions:

"Now keep in mind the title of episode 8, the last jedi. What if we are learning about early jedi because we are going to find out how different the ancient jedi order is? What if what we know as jedi are not really jedi after all? What if snoke is the last jedi, in its original form?
It makes sense that we are learning about early jedi. It makes sense that kylo Ren has this ancient version of the weapon. It makes sense that luke went to look for the original jedi temple in order to learn about snoke."

There have been other theories that Snoke could be a resurrected-but-evil Mace Windu who Palpatine killed in the trilogy prequels. But this new theory about Snoke as the last Jedi seems to have a strong case, and bears worth watching.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will open in theaters on December 2017.
