Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga 4k Blu-Ray Box Set Reportedly Being Set For Release

Lucasfilm may have been particularly quiet about its plans for the Star Wars franchise after it completes the Skywalker saga with the release of Star Wars: Episode IX, but there's a new rumor going around saying that the studio might be release a 4k boxset of all the films in the saga next year.

According to a report by Digital Fix, a UK-based Disney employee has just leaked information about a complete Star Wars saga 4k Blu-ray box set scheduled for release in 2020. Though Star Wars fans have long since known that a 4k scan of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope has long since existed, we've only recently heard about the entire original trilogy being rescanned from the original negatives to 4k.

The Digital Fix's contact claims that 4k masters of the entries in the original trilogy and Star Wars: The Force Awakens are already available. Right now, work is being done on George Lucas' prequel trilogy which apparently has proven to be a challenging task compared to the original films.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi already has a 4k Blu-Ray release, so there's no problem there.

As with any rumor, we advise fans to take this report with a grain of salt. However, knowing that Star Wars: Episode IX is closing the curtain on the Skywalker saga, it definitely makes sense to hear that Disney is planning to release a boxset of all of the saga's entries.

Would you grab the 4k boxset? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
