Being the final installment of the Skywalker Saga, there's no doubt that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker had some scenes that never made it into the final cut. Fitting everything into a 2 or 3-hour movie makes it inevitable for these to be deleted, especially since they don't contribute to the whole narrative. Some concept artworks for the film have surfaced showing some of these scenes that weren't included, including a new one that reveals an unused Resistance spy device.

Taking to Instagram, prop designer Matthew Savage shared a close look at the unused device. "Resistance Dead Drop Box from Rise of Skywalker," he wrote. "Designed for a scene that wasn't shot, this capsule would be left floating in space as a way to pass information between Resistance spies."

Savage says this eventually "evolved" into the scene where Boolio passes on some information to Finn and Poe through R2-D2 while the pair were aboard the Falcon. You can check it out below!

It is understandable that the tech wasn't included in the movie, considering that the scene with Boolio was only brief, so the device won't be touched upon as much. The footage that made the final cut shows how they went with a simple approach of the character transferring the data to the droid so as to not make the scene any longer.
