It looks like the ever-lovable porgs are going to make their way into Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Lucasfilm just recently released a brand new international poster for Episode IX today, and in the image littered with characters, ships, lightsabers, blasters and droids, we get to see a very tiny spec of a porg standing alongside Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran), C-3PO, R2-D2, and BB-8. Though the poster focuses more heavily on the central characters of Lucasfilm's Star Wars sequel trilogy like Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe (Oscar Isaac) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) we're definitely excited to see a few Porgs in The Rise of Skywalker.
According to Screen Rant, the international poster was made for the film's promotional campaign in Germany, and while one single porg doesn't mean we'll get to see the movie overrun by the creatures, we're glad that there'll be a few in Star Wars: The Last Jedi's sequel.
A species of sea-dwelling bird that first made its debut in Rian Johnson's Star Wars movie, Porgs were practically everywhere on the planet of Ahch-To where Jedi Master Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) decided to hide himself in. Adorable little things, Porgs stole the heart of the Star Wars fan base when they were first introduced in The Last Jedi. Given fans' response to the creatures, it comes as no surprise to see a Porg wandering around in this brand new poster for The Rise of Skywalker.
We can only hope that the film features a little bit more than a handful of porgs.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
