Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Novel Reveals Connection to Darth Vader

Like all of the other Star Wars sequel trilogy installments before it, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is getting its own tie-in novelization, this one from writer Rae Carson. Not only will the book feature details that weren't included in the film, but it looks like we'll get to learn about a deleted scene from the movie.

Lucasfilm just recently announced the upcoming novelization for The Rise of Skywalker on its website, and in the excerpt for the book, fans get to learn about a scene that bridges together Kylo Ren's (Adam Driver) hunt for the Sith Wayfinder.

In the opening of Episode IX, viewers get to see the First Order Supreme Leader desperately searching for the Sith Wayfinder so that he can find Palpatine. He finds himself on the lava moon Mustafar, but n order to get to the Wayfinder, Kylo Ren has to cut through the planet's colonists.

The novelization for The Rise of Skywalker adds to the scene, revealing that Kylo has to meet the Eye of the Webbish Bog, a lake-dwelling gatekeeper, who gives him the Wayfinder. In the book, fans learn that Vader placed the Eye and his warriors to protect the Sith Lord's old castle.

This is an interesting detail that adds to Vader's lore and to the lore of Mustafar. It looks like the Sith Lord really invested in the planet, placing warriors and gatekeepers to protect his fortress. It's such a shame that this scene with the gatekeeper didn't make it into Episode IX.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is currently screening in cinemas.
