Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker introduced Jannah, a former First Order stormtrooper, played by franchise newcomer Naomi Ackie. The character met Rey and the group at Kef Bir, where she was residing, and by the end of the film, she agreed to go on an adventure with Lando Calrissian in search of her home. Given that there's more to learn about her character, Ackie thinks that Jannah could get her own spinoff.

"Jannah was a completely new character and I like the idea that the Star Wars universe is expanding," Ackie told Digital Spy. "I think Jannah could get a spin-off."

"She has a really rich backstory that [director] JJ [Abrams] told me about, and a future that we still don't know about," the actor added. When asked if Jannah is Lando's long-lost daughter, as most fans speculate, Ackie makes a "my lips are sealed" gesture, saying that that's her only answer to that mystery.

Introduced in the final installment of the Skywalker Saga, there's obviously a big gap between her birth and the film. In addition, Ackie revealed that Abrams told her a "rich" backstory about Jannah, which suggests that there are more stories left to be explored about the new character. Not to mention the movie's ending, hinting that Lando could be Jannah's father, or is somewhat related to the legendary character.

Of course, Ackie can't give a definitive answer to that yet, but it is interesting to know that the director has given the character a backstory, so a spin-off is somehow plausible. That said, it's unclear whether the character would ever make a return and if she'll be able to have her own spinoff in the future. It might take a while for it to happen, but given Jannah's mysterious past, some fans are certainly interested in knowing more about her.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker arrives on Disney+ on May 4th.
