Star Wars: The Legends of Luke Skywalker: The Manga Getting 2020 Western Release

We might be seeing Luke Skywalker as a Force Ghost in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker soon but it looks like more adventures featuring the character are coming, this time in manga form. While Luke will still be a constant presence in Marvel's Star Wars comics, especially with a big relaunch coming in January, fans will be pleased to know that Viz Media is publishing Star Wars: Legends of Luke Skywalker: The Manga for a 2020 Western release.

Legends of Luke Skywalker is an anthology of Star Wars stories from some of the biggest names in manga, including Akira Himekawa, who created the successful The Legend of Zelda manga series. Some of the talents include Haruichi, Akira Fukaya, Takashi Kisaki and Subaru so it will be interesting to see how these Japanese talents handle this acclaimed Western character.

Here's what Chief Marketing Officer Brad Woods had to say about the manga coming stateside (via Newsarama):

"With the global appeal of the Star Wars franchise, this publishing release offers an exciting new way to enjoy the brand from the perspective of master manga storytellers. STAR WARS: THE LEGENDS OF LUKE SKYWALKER features the dynamic vision and bold art styles of some of the manga genre's most celebrated creators and artists. We invite readers to discover this release early next year."

No proper release date for Star Wars: Legends of Luke Skywalker: The Manga has been revealed yet, though it has been slated for an early 2020 release.
