Star Wars: The Last Jedi Actress Kelly Marie Tran Nabs Role in Brand New Series

Star Wars: The Last Jedi star Kelly Marie Tran might have been bullied by Star Wars fans for her role as Rose Tico, but that doesn't mean that the actress is down and out.

Now that the Skywalker saga's come to an end with the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Kelly Marie Tran has moved on to a new project, this time a Hulu television drama.

According to a new post by The Hollywood Reporter, Tran has been cast in the new series Monsterland, an anthology show based on the short story collection North American Lake Monsters by the writer Nathan Ballingrud.

Tran is set to star in one of Monsterland's episodes as Lauren, a character who is set to return "to her small Michigan hometown to be married."

There's isn't that much information aside from that, but we expect a lot of surprises from the show. Aside from Tran, Monsterland has managed to gather a pretty great ensemble with Taylor Schilling from Orange is the New Black, Mike Colter from Luke Cage, and Kaitlyn Denver from Booksmart. It's going to be exciting to see what this new series is going to offer.

"Encounters with mermaids, fallen angels and other strange beasts drive broken people to desperate acts in an attempt to repair their lives, ultimately showing there is a thin line between man and monster," the series description reads.

We can't wait to see Tran's performance in Monsterland.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker are both available for streaming on Disney+.
